doing the same test the video did in the opening, time to compute check-sum.

This is i5 M520 from Q1 2010, ie. 12 years ago. Took 1 min 4 sec. Actual time should be taken as user + sys time which is about 16.3 sec.

This is i7-8700K from Q4 2017, ie. 5 years ago. Took 4.36 sec. The 7 years gap improvement in performance is impressive. Moore's law say performance is doubled every two years, but double in every 3.5 years I can accept.

This is i7-12700K from Q4 2021, ie. 1 year ago. Took 4.13 sec. The 4 years gap improvement in performance is mediocre. At this rate, it'd probably take two decades to double the performance, Moore's law is basically dead.
