PLAN still built warships with stereoscopic rangefinders for artillery sighting until around 1990 when they were replaced by TV and IR cameras and laser rangefinders on new-build ships. Most of these were derived from Soviet 3-meter rangefinders, either as part of the Wasp Head director or an open standalone version in the earliest 053H frigates that was probably a clone of the Soviet DM-3. What were the names of the Chinese-made rangefiners, and which ones were inherited from Japan or the US?
