What we are talking about, is the state of the art microchip for self-driving cars. So it is important. China should be using these chips for the electric self-driving car in China, an industry that is starting to boom.

According to this article, from year 2019, it probably is a 7nm chip at best.

The picture becomes a little clearer, of the tech war.

These state of the art autonomous driving chips probably are 7nm at best because 5nm was not really around yet for mass production.

Will the US government demand these American 7nm chips be banned to be used by the Chinese electric car companies?

Two problems there with that idea.

First, everyone learned from Huawei, and everybody probably has a stockpile of chips in China.

Second, SMIC already at 7nm so to ban that kind of chip from China, they will replace it because they should have the know how to fabricate at that level. They have to do it before the stockpile runs out.

This is the idea.

The self-driving car, that is thought to be a motivator to not buy a car anymore. Cars in the future could be mainly a fleet of robot taxis.

That is what BaiDu will do soon in China.

The future is going to arrive in China, before anywhere else, by quite a few years it appears for this fleet of robot taxis. A very visible sign of human and technological progress. That will be a shock and awe moment for the world.
