Russia main OP is to "liberate" the Russian speaking eastern Ukraine and southern Ukraine to build a buffer from Nato forces. Why would Russia want Kiev? Unless we are talking about the narrative of Russia "taking over" Ukraine.
Kiev invasion was to push Ukranian forces toward it while the main strategy was eastern Ukraine. Why cannon fodder conscripts were stationed in the north?
