but in general, is it not logical to remain neutral and profit from both sides of the conflict? As the petrodollar goes, so goes the power of the US. Without Ukraine there would be no Liaoning, so there are good reasons to guarantee Ukrainian sovreignty. China needs a militarily powerful Russia to secure her western flank however, so no selling the bear out. If the West takes out Russia then all its guns are aimed at China. OTOH, can't let Russia drag China into a conflict a la WWI.
