China need to keep Russia afloat financially. Militarily, China should avoid provoking EU, coz EU will also avoid provoking China into military alliance with Russia even if the US want EU on its side in dealing with China in pacific. At most EU will pay lip service and do symbolic Freedom of navigation in pacific. In order to help Russia financially, China need to be independent from western financial world order. That means China need to promote trade in Yuan even if it mean China has to at least let go the capital control, promote China's payment system, diversify trade destination, open the capital market to foreign investors, at least in less strategic sector and with barrier towards rivals like the US or Japan and restructure its economy towards more consumption and service sector. China is doing that right now, but I think China need to accelerate the pace, and accelerate fast.
