071 was originally designed to carry HQ-7 but this was never installed. That space currently holds an EO sensor, but there seems to be no reason an 8-cell HQ-10 launcher stripped off a decommissioned 056 could be put there. Also, PLAN LSTs currently rely only on escorts, MANPADS and 37mm or 30mm guns for air defence. There should be 15 to 20 lightly used 8-cell HQ-10 launchers available, they could replace the bow gun of an LST. They could be supplemented by 30mm guns and ESM systems also taken from decommissioned 056 corvettes. Currently PLAN LSTs lack any kind of EW systems except for IFF and very basic RWR on some.
