China doesn't want to alienate Ukraine by any appearance of being soft on Russia. I hope that the war will end soon.

But, I saw on TV news about an hour ago that an Ukrainian presidential advisor has admitted that Russia has effectively captured Mariupol. It looks like Russia is SLOWLY getting its way. It is likely to be a long struggle in Ukraine.
