To get yourself in geopolitics when your growth since the mid 1990s is solely based on exporting goods to other countries and importing goods for domestic consumption is a bad idea.  

 

With a population just 5 million,  export gdp at 126%, import GDP 113%,  balanced by deficit government spending, the last thing I would would do is to go all in for your top trading countries.  Same with Australia but at least Australia export-import GDP is only a small percentage and has a self sustaining population of 26 million.
