This is the export version of 071. As you probably remember from 20 years ago, originally the 071 was supposed to have an HQ-7 launcher for air defence, but this was cancelled for some reason and no SAM was ever installed. The HQ-10 is in the same position as the HQ-7 on the original model. Does this mean that HQ-10 can be refitted to existing 071, or that the newer 071 under construction will have them? PLAN's larger amphibious and supply ships lack SAM protection, seems this might be a useful upgrade and would be simpler if the ship were already designed for a trainable launcher. BTW I still don't know why the Jiangwei II upgraded only included an 8-cell launcher rather than one of the larger ones, the weight is probably not heavier than the old HQ-7.
