Those guys are on the religious side, Unz may be a Jew but not very religious in any way. A lot of left-leaning progressive Jews in the US are critical of Israel over the Palestinian issue. Also, self-hating Jews are almost as much of a trope as self-hating Chinese.

I remember the TV commercials Unz had when he was running for gobernor in CA in the 1990s.
