Contrary to what the media says, the attacks have nothing to do with white supremacy. It was common for blacks to randomly attack East Asians (to rob or just for fun) long before Trump or covid, so it's not a new thing either. I think the media is suddenly focusing on it now to deliberately worsen ethnic tensions, possibly to prevent China from exploiting US repression of blacks for political purposes.
Sinbad is correct about black entitlement, there is a widespread (even if it's subconscious) belief among blacks that they are owed something for slavery. Bear in mind that the Chinese, especially US-born ABCs, do often have a "white is right" attitude, although that may be starting to change as China regains international status. Chinese racism against blacks is also real, I've seen advertising for rental housing on Craigslist that has a separate paragraph in Chinese about how the place was in a white neighborhood with no black people. One the other hand, black criminality is very real as well - blacks do commit more crimes per capita than anyone else in the US.
Also, do remember that physical size is an issue here. Most Chinese are tiny compared to Americans. They are only attacking people who can't fight back, and that is why most of the victims are old.
However, Sinbad is absolutely wrong about Latin America. If they hated East Asians so much why did Peruvians elect Fujimori? At least one Chinese CMF member has moved to Mexico and married a Mexican national. I have dated Mexican women, but never Asian American women, the Asians have a massive psychological complex and worship white people. I consider Mexicans in the US to be much less racist against Chinese than Asians are.
In California, Mexicans and Chinese generally get along better than other ethnic groups (even Asian Americans), probably due to cultural similarities and immigrant mindsets, but not all Hispanics are Mexican especially on the East Coast (the bulk of the violence has been in the San Francisco Bay Area and in New York City).
A major contributing factor IMHO is the refusal of extreme left-wing city governments in the San Francisco area to prosecute violent suspects because of social justice issues, the San Francisco prosecutor Chesa Boudin is actually the son of imprisoned terrorists and should never have been in office in the first place. The whole place is a complete madhouse and other parts of the country are not like this at all.
Do note that none of what I said about black people applies to African or Afro-Caribbean immigrants, who were never enslaved by Americans and who are culturally somewhat similar to Chinese.
Interestingly many of the victims are not actually Chinese, but Filipinos or Southeast Asians.
