The problem with too many Americans, is that they are not China hands, and do not understand China.

In those people, their thoughts revert to standard stereotypes. There is no point to discuss other people's stereotypes, which are usually wrong, and often politically motivated for unsavory intent.

The original essay was barking up the wrong tree.

The American Conservative piece was correct to call it out as bizarre.
