One thing I realized while watching the second video, was that the announcers Malissa Chan in the first one and Liu Xin in the second one, was that neither had a clue!
It was too much! This topic was too complicated.
They did not seem to even have a clue of how a computer works, you know, the bytes, as such it is binary, the 1 or 0. I think how it works is if there is a charge or current in the slot, then that is 1 and no electricity means it is 0.
The quantum computer will work with qubits, which in their experiment, where photons (ie light) fired together in pairs. Since they are in pairs this give rise to the quantum entanglement and the quantum superposition. Entanglement means the pair eventually will be the same 1 or 0, but superposition means the pair of photons could be 1 and 0 at the same time at that moment when measured, but eventually the pair would be the same.
Okay, I am not a physicist, and this sounds really complicated, do not know how they can measure that when the single pair of photons are fired from the gun.
Of note in this video, that prof in Vienna was Pan Jainwei's professor when he studied there. He said it was so important how they were able to measure all those photons and hence make the calculations. Also the other point made by the other professor was shocking but probably true, that this is scalable and this looks like what everyone will want to try to do.
I thought it was really funny the two anchors, because if they could not understand binary, how are they going to understand this stuff, so the confused looks on their faces got more confused, and their questions kind went into directions we did not expect, essentially into oblivion?! If they did not understand binary, then forget about it, regarding qubit, entanglement, superposition, and that dead cat. Maybe it was alive? I don't know. Can someone help us please!
