in Suva, Fiji. The TTO was helding a "national day" celebration on Oct 8. Two Chinese Embassy staff entered to take picture of the event in the public hall of the Grand Pacific Hotel (other source say they were to meet a business group in the hotel). Eleven TTO employees confronted the two Chinese Embassy staff and resorted to physical contact, aka shoving and so on, but were beaten up by the two Chinese diplomats and hospitalized after alleged "violent attack" by Chinese diplomats. The point is, in this brawl, Chinese diplomats have diplomatic immunity, what does the Taiwan Trade Office employees have? Are they diplomats too? Does Fiji even recognize them as diplomats? And were hospitalized in a 11 vs 2 brawl, LOL.

Police are currently investigating a complaint of staff of the Embassy of the People’s Republic of China against an employee of the Taipei Trade Office in Suva.

Spokesperson, Ana Naisoro confirms that the report is lodged by the Chinese Embassy staff.

It is alleged that the Taipei Trade Office worker had assaulted the Chinese Embassy staff on October 8th 2020 at the Grand Pacific Hotel in Suva during the 109th National Day of the Republic of China (Taiwan). Police say the Chinese Embassy staff has claimed that he was allegedly assaulted while trying to enter the venue of the event.

Naisoro says there is no report of the Taipei Trade Office employee getting assaulted.

She says the number of people involved will be determined in the investigation as the lodged report deals with the alleged assault by the Taipei Trade Office worker.

Naisoro says they are also working with the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

We have contacted the Representative of Taipei Trade Office, Jessica Lee. She is expected to comment later.

Fijivillage has also sent questions to the Chinese Embassy and the Fijian Ministry of Foreign Affairs. We are yet to receive a response.

We will have more later today.
