the industrial policies of East Asia countries. The US does not want China to have a similar industrial policy not because it is against subsidies and unfair competitions. For political reasons, it has plenty of subsidies and protections for agriculture sector which has no exponential growth potential. Basically it is backing the wrong horse, but farmers are politically powerful and get you elected.

In the case of China, that and more due to the trade and the tech wars started by the US...
