I am not saying that we should not respect culture, but we should not be bound by it either.  Islam for example, some are bound by their culture and sadly they believe in honor killing but according to our modern law, we willnot tolerate that. Asians are being harrassed, taunted and mocked in the US and the west because we eat dogs and cats.  They are considered pets. It is not in the 40s or 50s anymore.  We need to adapt and move on according to our modern time.   I am sure you know very well. You live in Hong Kong is one thing but many Chinese also live in the West.  However, at the end of the day, you are free to eat whatever you want and believe in whatever you want but as people, we do live in a society and there is an acceptable and not acceptable cultural standard.
