As you all know, Americans on both the left and right hold great hostility against Chinese, and recently even important US political figures have been claiming that the Wuhan virus was intentionally released by China as a bioweapon, and even demanding reparations. What happens if some in the US need to distract the public from internal problems and use the pandemic as a pretext to deliberately attempt to start a war against China (by staging an incident in the South China Sea, for example) or at least massive political escalation such as disavowing all US debt to the PRC or unilaterally recognising Taiwan independence (regardless of whether the Tsai regime actually declares independence officially)? IMHO this isn't as farfetched as it might seem:
