a while back in Oct 25.Remember when the Jiaolong deep sea submersible set its record dive of 7,062 m in Jun 27, 2012, someone in CMF bitched that its pressure hull was built in Russia?
China's new deep sea submersible project that is designed to reached beyond 10,000 m is scheduled to become operational in 2020, and challenge the Mariana Trench in 2021. Basically it can reach all sea floor anywhere in the world.
Now the pressure hull is entirely constructed in China using Titanium and special vacuum welding technique.
The pressure hull is designed for 3 occupants, the largest of its kind for the 10,000 m deep diving.
The project has reached a critical milestone in Oct 25 when its pressure hull passed the test in the pressure chamber.
