and that's because the Vikram lander can only operate for 14 days on the moon, aka one lunar day. Vikram can't survive the lunar night as it lack the temperature management system. So no point in putting valuable scientific instruments onboard Vikram.

In comparison, although Yutu 1 didn't survive the second lunar night, the Chang'e 3 lander is still in working condition till this day, approaching the sixth year by this Dec. Yutu 2 OTOH has fixed the issue suffered by Yutu 1, it survived 9 lunar nights to date.
