Gal Gadot Is The New Celebrity Spokesperson For Huawei Smartphones

Huwaei is banking on Gal Gadot to bring their smartphones to a global market.

Chinese telecommunications company Huawei Technologies is looking to “Wonder Woman” after their planned U.S. distribution deal reportedly fell through.

Gadot, 34, has been brought on as the company’s first-ever “Chief Experience Officer.” A spokesperson told Israeli daily newspaper Calcalist the actress will have “an active role” in promoting Huawei’s products.

Huawei’s partnership with AT&T would have allowed Huawei phones to flourish in the U.S.” according to the Wall Street Journal. At the moment, the phones are available for purchase but are not part of any U.S. carrier’s data plans.

AT&T was reportedly pressured to back out of the deal by members of the U.S. Senate and House intelligence committees, per Reuters. Government officials were reportedly concerned with Huawei’s alleged role in Chinese espionage efforts.

“Partnering with an innovative brand like Huawei is incredibly exciting for me,” Gadot said in a statement published by World Israeli News. “I look forward to playing an integral part of the company’s growth in the year ahead.”
