I would be surprised if you were unaware of President Erdogan's remarks, given your attention to Islamic issues. BTW, early medieval Europeans were more messed up than their contemporaries in India - even if the Indians didn't sufficiently record their history, Xuanzang recorded his own experiences in India - and at the time Western Europeans wrote down as much of their history as the Indians did or less.

My primary beef (pun intended) with Hindu nationalist pseudohistory is that, since they have the ear of the United States (where thanks to the 1960s hippie era Hinduism can do no wrong), they have much more influence and can do more damage (particularly in turning the US public even more against China) than the extremists of some insignificant country like Liechtenstein or Lesotho (neither of which Americans have ever heard of).
