Their true concern may be the price tag that could balloon from unit cost of $135 million to $250 million by the delivery time of 2027-28. But if they think they can develop their own 5th gen and get it ready by 2027-28, in mere ten years including an engine better than AL-41F1, they should think trice and reconsider just paying the Russian.
