It will take them another decade or so to retire the obsolete Mig 21s and their hope for Teja after half of a century of waiting had come into futile, underpowered engine so the navy refused to accept it.  And the  MMCR project failed as well.  Their Mig 29s and Su-30 MKIs are nothing to be proud of.  They have to deal with frequent breakdowns.  I can simply say Russian Hardware is just junk. Lastly, they had to put all their eggs in one basket and that is another Russian junk PAK FA stealth fighter (Su-57) Inddia's R/D on AMCA stealth fighter can not be realized without buying some key technologies from abroad.  In the meantime, the Paki and the People's Republic are number one enemy, it would make sense for them to abandon Russia and come to US for any meaningful procurement of their air force.
