The ancient silk route was not a continuous one as the simple minded sh1t stirer think.  Goods from China are mostly moved to Central Asia, and western one moved over to the east from Rome to constantinople. Iran and Iraq probably chipped in the trade and some leftover move to Central Asia for exchanged with Chinese goods. Silk Route is a modern term for a complex system of world trade thousand years ago.
