The game here is uncle sam always birbe some low level officials and newsmen to come up with news and declaration to paint bad picture about China, and to split the unity of Asean nation, and almost everytime these message were overturned by the higher authority of Asean nation once they were exposed.  My advise is not to read into all the fantacy written in western media, 99% of them are propaganda used to cause problem for the region.
