My anthro professor at the University of Michigan (Milford Wolpoff) was the champion of multiregional evolution. He had a lot of Chinese collaborators, though I have never been able to figure out whether the Chinese anthropological establishment favored multiregional evolution over the out-of-Africa hypothesis due to racial reasons or scientific ones.
