Nobody wants a poor cousin.  Those Taiwanese have been bombarded daily with anti China rhetoric, especially by US media. However the natural order is they will have no escape when their economy got nowhere and mainland become more prosperous through hard work and determination.  Taiwanese unfortunately will continue to pull each others legs instead of gaining the lift from China's development.
