They also place the notional Type 095 as even worse than early Akula class SSN's. I can accept that the Type 093G may be somewhere in the region of early Akulas (or somewhat worse) given the trajectory of China's military modernization in the last 2 decades, but why the PLAN would accept a brand new design into the PLAN that is 2 generations behind current US designs is beyond me. IMO the 095 debuting around the end of this decade will be right around 688i levels, followed within 10 years by another design that is about the level of the Seawolf/Virginia.
