beyond self control is not good practice nor good for health. A lot of things especially bad things can happen without your wish and control. One of the five precepts in Buddha's teachings is avoidance of alcohol due to loss of control. With all due respect, and out of good concerns, I used to have a book about a person who was often drunk and one day when he was drunk he violated his own daughter without his knowledge until he woke up and that really change his drinking lifestyle to be free from alcohol from then on. But the damage simply can not be undone. See how dangerous it is.
