Cockpits can accomodate taller people. Given the fact that most European kids are now 6 feet and over. They will severely deplete their talent pool if they do not take taller people. I have a friend who is 6 feet 3 inches tall and he flew the Harrier in the Falklands War. It was never an issue. However, if you look at Europe, Northern Europeans like Swedes and Dutch are much taller than the French and Italians, so there is some scientific fact, although there are exceptions.
