Taiwan retain her armed forces? I would have expected a looser hand, since clamping down on pre-existing freedoms would be very bad PR, and clever Taiwanese politicians could try to use the TI threat as leverage to demand more concessions from the mainland. In fact, I would think it not unlikely that a post-peaceful reunification Taiwan would turn out to be a Wu Sangui-style "feudatory" state (or more stable version thereof), with the KMT in the role of Wu Sangui.
