The only reason that Washington Naval treaty came to be was because naval armament race was draining the treasury of all the nations concerned. Britain, France, and Italy especially could not afford to continue the race while rebuilding after WWI. The limit placed on Japan were indeed caused by arrogance West and a bit of discrimination, the Japanese propaganda machine got that bit right. Still, that's hardly a case of US deliberately limited Japanese military power as support for Chinese struggle against them. No, US and western powers wanted to limit Japanese military power for their OWN DAMNED BENEFIT. FDR may or may not have had China's benefit in mind when he placed demand on Japan, but I'm sure the threat of a Japan strengthened by successful conquest of China didn't stray far at any time. And bring up Madam Chaing help your case in what way? Chinese had been suffering under an active Japanese aggression since 1931, yet it took some ten years before support finally came, and ONLY after someone that your politicians can identify with as one of their own shows up did they finally come around. I'm sure if a tattered clothed peasant who had his entire family brutally murdered would have worked just as well, right? Ha.

Face it, US and most western nations were filled with racists back then. They don't care about what's happening to ordinary Chinese people. They didn't even respect Japan when it was already a second tier great power back then, clearly demonstrated by the slight against Japan in the naval treaty. So you want me to believe Americans as a whole actually CARED about Chinese? You would have a better chance convincing the Pope that God doesn't exist.
