Guys; the US M60A3 (TTS) is a great tank...it's as simple as that. The fire control system is excellent and the guner's thermal sight (linked to the commander), may be the best thermal sight in the world...still. It fires the most advanced 105mm DU ammo available (the M833 and M900 APFSDS rounds), and solidly proved its capabilities during Desert Storm. Now, the problem with the tank (and it's a big one) is armor...a problem that had history been a little different, would have shown-up on European Cold War battlefields. The available info supports the idea that the Type 88C has better armor than the M60A3 (TTS), but just how much better isn't clear. As I've said before, so much of a comparison between these tanks depends on the ammo fired by the Type 88C. At longer ranges, the 105mm has advantages over the older Soviet/Russian 125mm ammo. If the PLA is using Israeli 125mm ammo, however (as I expect it is), those advantages may be a thing of the past.
