16"/50 are much better guns for the weight. I do think Battleships make better intimidation. They also make a better platform to board from than a frigate. Well I mean if you have to run the ships together and board that way. Frigates are a bit squatty unless you have a boarding party of Tarzans. Talk about an uphill battle.
I'm 90% sure that Iowa is the New Jersey. Looks like sometime in the 80s. 84ish maybe.
