conquered by the West, but all the ones that have.  It almost makes me lament the fact that China stepped back from the brink of industrial revolution centuries before the Europeans and never took that crucial step forward.  On the other hand, I probably have a good 40 to 50 years of life left in me.  I'd like to see what happens in the next few decades.
